About

Curses begins in the attic of the Meldrew family home, looking for a map so the holiday can start. The attic contains rather more than it should, and the game opens outward from there into one of the largest and most notorious puzzle collections in interactive fiction.

It matters twice over. It is a sprawling, allusive, genuinely difficult game about a family with a great deal of history; and it was the game Graham Nelson wrote to exercise Inform, the compiler that made most of the interactive fiction of the following thirty years possible. Release 16 is the final version its author produced.
